 Project Introduction

Technical study and coordination for Atlantia S.p.A. of technical advisors (SAI and EGIS India) for the design activities for the highways.
The Government of India has envisioned upgrading the capacity of some of the major road corridors to six lane highway facilities from the existing four lane configuration, under the National Highway Development Programme, Phase-V. It is proposed to execute such projects, as BOT-Toll type of Public Private Partnership Projects, on Design, Build, Finance & Operate (DBFO) Pattern.
The “Six Laning of Kishangarh-Udaipur” and the “Six laning of Udaipur-Ahmedabad” are part of this program.

The project highway from Kishangarh to Udaipur is in the state of Rajasthan and traverses through four districts namely Ajmer, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, and Udaipur. The major towns and built up areas along the project highway are Kishangarh, Nasirabad, Jharwasa, Banadanwara, Gulabpura, Gangrar, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Mangalwar, Dabok, Dewari and Udaipur. The project stretch comprises of three national highways, namely NH-79A, NH-79 and NH-76 for about 315 km.
The project highway from of Six laning of Udaipur-Ahmedabad section is in the state of Rajasthan and in the state of Gujarat. The project road is situated in the Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar & Sabarkantha district of Gujarat and Dungarpur & Udaipur district of Rajasthan. Project package includes Udaipur – Ahmedabad Section of NH-8 from Km 269/000 to Km 509/000 for about 240 km. Project road provides connectivity to many important towns and villages of Gujarat and Rajasthan. It is acting as a vital link of NH-8 for traffic originating from Mumbai going towards Haryana, Punjab, Himachal, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh & Uttaranchal. NH-8 is one of the most important and busiest national highways of the country.

The main objective of the consultancy service was to review, evaluate and render value addition to the engineering provisions envisioned in the feasibility studies conducted by the NHAI at first and by SAI and EGIS in the second phase and to validate its findings at site through a technical study. Thereafter, on the basis of these analyses, an estimate of the quantities and costs was made.
