Project Introduction
The project of the S.S. 16 Adriatica alternative  represents one of the main national road links between the North and South of Italy. Through the Adriatic coast this road is connecting Central Europe with the southern Mediterranean and is part of a vast inter-regional and regional infrastructure.

The intervention begins at  km 192+000 in the town of Bellaria (north part of the province of Rimini) and ends at the km 222+00, in the town of Misano Adriatico near the Conca River, where it reconnects to the existing S.S.16 Adriatica.

It runs parallel to the A14 highway Rimini Nord – Cattolica and is connected with other important Italian highways through other interconnecting roads : the A24 highway Rome – Aquila, via the SS.80 Teramo – Giulianova, the A25 Rome – Pescara, via the A16 from A30 (Nola) to the A14 (Barletta).

The project includes the following major works:

•    n.4 artificial tunnels
•    n.6 viaducts
•    n.5 bridges
•    n.4 overpasses
•    n.3 underpasses
