Project Introduction
The project develops the widening to third lane from km 10+555 to km 33+780 of the highway A9 and the modernization of the Lainate connection between highway A/8 and highway A/9.
The highway A9 runs along a territory characterized by a great number of industrial and commercial areas: this is one of the most busy highway in Italy and represents part of an international link between east and west Europe.
The main topics related to the project are the following:

  • Rehabilitation of the Lainate Connection
  • Adaptation of the infrastructure to safety standards
  • New alignment related to the north carriageway of the highway A8.
  • New junction near Saronno to improve the connection with the urban areas
  • New interchange near Lomazzo to connect the highway with the National Road 32 “Novedatrese”.
  • Adjustment and restyling of the “Como Sud” connection near Como

Besides, the project foresees several impact mitigation measures including, among others: environmental engineering, acoustic isolation barriers, compensation plan and new plantings.
