Project Introduction
The project involves the widening of the carriageway of the highway Gazzada-Varese for a lenght of approximately 800 m, between the bridge of Gasparotto Road/Cantore and the intersection with Via Gasparotto. The project also includes two T-intersections replacement with a roundabout intersection (Highway Overpass/Gasparotto Road and Gasparotto Road/Cantore Road).
Current road presents criticalities due to the narrowing at km 1+770, where the two lanes for direction become one lane for direction. Speed limits on both carriageways require speed limit of 50 km/h from the narrowing  point to the intersection with Gasparotto Road.
The second critical aspect is the highway entrance towards Milan.
The project will substitute the ramp in the second lane with a streamlined solution to increase the traveling speed of this section. This solution increases road safety, capacity and traffic flow and eliminates the dangerous narrowing.
