Main objective of this Consultancy service is to develop a new highway alignment by examining alternative alignment options and provide the Roads Department with the preferred technically safe and economic solution on the basis of a thorough assessment of technical, environment, social and economic analysis and appraisal. Based on the selected alignment outcome of the Feasibility Study and the data collected, SPEA will prepare a detailed engineering design for Batumi-Sarpi section.

The new highway will be one of the most important sections in E-W transit directions, as a transport corridor. The infrastructure will be approximately 15 km long, from the end point of Batumi Bypass Project to village Sarpi at the Turkish Border; it will be 2-lanes with two-way traffic and passes through villages Gonio and Kvariati.
