Spea developed the feasibility study and detailed design of the road section connecting Thumanë – Vorë – Kashar. This project represented the construction of a 20 km road, which initiates in Thumane in the north (existing 4 lanes section) and continues up to the highway Tirane–Durres in the South. The Albanian government has paid attention to the northern and north – east link with Montenegro and Kosovo and to the one in south with Greece. The realization of this road has an important strategic dimension, as part of the green corridor of Durres – Morine highway, and North – South corridor which connects the Pan – European VIII corridor, part of the comprehensive SEETO network, as well as the National Transport Plan proposed by the Government of Albania. The overall objective of this study was the preparation of an accurate and full design of a road section that adapts motorway’s standards, to improve the traffic in the most important corridors of Albania: North – South corridor, East – West corridor and Durres – Morine corridor. The main objective of this study was to make a step forward in the important construction of Tirana By-Pass.
